Marcin Rolczynski
Founder/Executive Director
The European Royal Classical Ballet is Poland’s first independent ballet company in history, led by Polish dancer Marcin Rolczyński. The company pursues its statutory goals not only in Poland but also internationally. Its primary mission and value lie in preserving the history and tradition of Polish ballet, which was initiated in the 18th century by King Stanisław August Poniatowski.
The company traces its origins back to 2016 when Marcin Rolczyński, drawing on years of experience as a coryphée at the Poznań Opera Ballet and as an active and dynamic entrepreneur, decided to stage his first ballet production, Swan Lake. This pioneering endeavor proved to be a success. Warm audience reception, along with sold-out theaters and cultural centers, encouraged Rolczyński to make further plans for future seasons.
He invited equally determined and esteemed artists to collaborate—ballet soloists, stage managers, and sound and lighting designers. It soon became evident that the team, built on years of working together at the opera and strong relationships beyond it, formed a well-coordinated ensemble capable of successfully developing its projects.
Subsequent artistic seasons brought increasingly refined productions of traditional ballet masterpieces, such as The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and Tango Show set to the music of Astor Piazzolla. In the following years, the company embarked on increasingly ambitious ballet tours, performing not only in Poland but also abroad in Lithuania, Austria, Germany, Hungary, the United States, and Japan.
Since 2017, the Royal Classical Ballet has been continuously strengthening its position, inviting outstanding ballet artists from across Europe. The high artistic quality of its productions is ensured by ballet soloists from renowned opera houses, including those in Poznań, Gdańsk, Łódź, Bytom, and Belgrade.
